The hyperlocal manufacturing infrastructure includes a shipping container customized to include two rows of 3D printers, a robotic arm mounted on a linear motion track, and a sorting mechanism that opens to the exterior of the shipping container. The robotic arm relies on computer vision to monitor print progress as well as to pick up the object and place it into the sorting mechanism. When the print is ready for distribution, a delivery drone picks up the package and delivers it to the customer.
This system includes several software applications in addition to the hardware and artificial intelligence systems. The first application is consumer-facing and allows the user to browse goods available for manufacturing. The second application is designed for monitoring system hardware and interactions between machines in the system. The third application focuses on maintaining and operating the autonomous drone delivery element of the infrastructure.
